Context:

From Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train Tour on the Ambedkar Circuit was signalled.

Ambedkar Circuit

  • The Ramayana Circuit, Buddhist Circuit, and North East Circuit came before the Ambedkar Circuit on the list of unique tourism circuits.
  • The IRCTC is running its inaugural trip on the Ambedkar Circuit in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism.
  • Visits to notable locations connected to Dr. Ambedkar’s life, including New Delhi, Mhow, Nagpur, and the revered Buddhist sites of Sanchi, Sarnath, Gaya, Rajgir, and Nalanda, will all be part of the eight-day special tour.

Demand and Importance

  • Babasaheb spent his entire life working for equality and fraternity, and the train is a symbol of that equality. The passengers will return home with many fond memories and an understanding of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s ideas.
  • In addition to the Dalit community, which frequently visits these important locations on pilgrimage, it seeks to draw a larger tourist base.

“Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train”

  • Through its fleet of Bharat Gaurav Tourist Trains, which are run by the Railways on a variety of well-known theme-based circuits to highlight the cultural heritage of this magnificent nation, the Ministry of Railways is promoting the cultural and religious heritage of India.
  • It is run as part of the “Dekho Apna Desh” project, a collaborative effort by the Ministries of Tourism and Railways that aims to promote domestic travel.

The “Dekho Apna Desh” plan

  • The “Dekho Apna Desh” program was started by the Ministry of Tourism with the aim of educating the populace about the rich history and culture of the nation and enticing them to travel inside it.
  • The program tries to encourage individuals, particularly middle-class Indians, to travel extensively within India rather than outside.
  • The new tourist program will probably increase employment opportunities in the travel and tourism sector and strengthen the national economy.
