Exercise Yudh Abhyas 

Context: The 19th edition of “EXERCISE YUDH ABHYAS” will take place in Fort Wainwright, Alaska, USA, from September 25 to October 8, 2023.

 Ex Yudh Abhyas

An annual training exercise between the Indian Army and the United States Army is called Yudh Abhyas.

The goals

The Army of India and the United States practice bilaterally on matters pertaining to warfare under the framework of Yudh Abhyas.
In Uttarakhand, India, the Eighteenth Edition of the Yudh Abhyas was held in 2022. This year’s joint training took place in Alaska, USA in 2021.

Training Activities

Various technical and operational exercises between the Indian and American military are part of the Yudh Abhyas training program.

YUDH ABHYAS-23 EX
A detachment of 350 members of the Indian Army will take part in this iteration of the exercise.
The MARATHA Light Infantry Regiment is associated with the leading battalion on the Indian side.
The US side will send 1-24 Infantry Battalion from 1st Brigade Combat Team.

Mandatum

A series of tactical drills will be conducted by both parties to improve interoperability in carrying out UN peacekeeping missions. In-depth talks will be held by staff members from both sides to exchange best practices and experiences.

Idea:

In accordance with Chapter VII of the UN mission, the exercise’s theme is “Employment of an Integrated Battle Group in Mountain/Extreme Climatic Conditions.”

Importance

In addition, during the exercise, best practices and points of view will be shared through drills on a variety of combat abilities, such as mine clearance, combat engineering, and the use of improvised explosive devices.
The implementation of “EX YUDH ABHYAS-23” is expected to enhance mutual learning and fortify the existing relationships between the two forces.
